Ballinger Bridge Construction Underway
May 31, 2015   11:59 PM

Work is underway and will continue for several months on a 14.6 million dollar project to widen and improve bridges on main thoroughfares in Ballinger.  J.H. Strain and Sons, Inc. will perform the work to widen the existing bridges and replace the existing bridge decks over Elm Creek, The Colorado River, and the South Orient Railroad and FM 382.

The existing bridges were built between 1958 and 1963.  According to Tex-Dot, the bridges need to be wider to accomodate  the increased truck traffic through Ballinger.  The Elm Creek and Railroad bridges  will be widened 12 feet and the Colorado River Bridge will be widened one and one half feet.

Motorists are urged to reduce speeds and use extra caution as work continues on the affected structures.
