Bluff Creek Cowboy Church Playday Saturday

Bluff Creek Cowboy Church will host the second in their five playday series Saturday (July 18) at the Bluff Creek Cowboy Church Arena, at 3802 FM 2405 in Drasco.  Age groups will include lead line, five and under, six to eight years, nine to twelve years, 13 to 15 years, 16 to 18 years, and an open division for ages 19 years and up.  Events will include barrels, poles, flag race, goat tying, and a stake race.  Entries will be accepted beginning at 9:00 AM with the play day events beginning at 10:00 AM.  Those entrants that participate in a minimum of three of the five scheduled playdays will be eligible to win a prize buckle at the conclusion of the series. 

The remaining playday dates are August 15 and September 19.   



Ballinger Area Chamber to Discontinue Ballinger Bucks

The Ballinger Area Chamber of Commerce is no longer issuing "Ballinger Bucks."  The issuance of Ballinger Bucks ended as of June 5th, according to a press release from the Chamber.  Businesses that are members of the Ballinger Area Chamber of Commerce will continue to accept Ballinger Bucks through December 31st, 2015.  After that date, any remaining Ballinger Bucks will have no value.  Anyone holding Ballinger Bucks are encouraged to use them on or before December 31st. 

Ballinger Bucks have been issued by the Ballinger Area Chamber of Commerce for many years.  Ballinger Bucks were purchased at the Ballinger Area Chamber of Commerce and were redeemed at chamber member businesses.  The businesses then exchanged the accepted Ballinger Bucks from the Chamber for the face value.   



Ballinger Lady Cats Summer Basketball League Raffle

The Ballinger Lady Cats Basketball Team is conducting a fundraising raffle to defray travel expenses.  First prize is a Smith and Wesson M & P AR-15 rifle, second prize is a Remington 11-87 20 gauge semi-automatic shotgun, and third prize is a Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 handgun with laser.  Tickets are $20 each with a maximum of 500 tickets being sold.  The drawing will be held just before 10:00 AM on Friday (July 31) live on KRUN.  Tickets may be purchased from any member of the Lady Cats Summer Basketball League team. 



Miles Elementary Registration

Miles Elementary School will conduct registration on Tuesday and Wednesday (August 4th and 5th) from 8:30 to 11:00 AM and from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM.  Only students that did not complete the 2014-2015 school year at Miles ISD need to register. 

Those attending registration will need to bring the child's original birth certificate and social security card.  Parents will also need to bring the student's shot records, a proof of address, and a report card from the previous school year.

"Who Killed the Elvis Impersonator" Murder Mystery Dinner at Carnegie Library

The Carnegie Library of Ballinger will host a murder mystery dinner on Saturday (August 8) beginning at 6:30 PM at the Mary Sykes Auditorium at the Carnegie Library in Ballinger.  The play, entitled "Who Killed the Elvis Impersonator," is directed by Ballinger High School Theatre Arts Director Deidra Dallas.  The meal will be prepared by Malisia Goetz with all proceeds benefitting the Carnegie Library and Imagination Station.  Tickets for the dinner and show are $25 each or $45 for a couple.  Tables for six and eight people are available for purchase.  Tickets may be purchased at the Carnegie Library of Ballinger at 204 N. 8th Street or from any board member of the Carnegie Library.
