Carnegie Library Hosts Magic Show

The Carnegie Library of Ballinger will host a special magic show with the Amazing Mr. K.  The show will be held Tuesday (July 2nd) at 10:00 AM at the Carnegie Library at 204 N. 8th Street Ballinger. 



Rowena Lions Club Raffle

The Rowena Lions Club is conducting a benefit raffle.  Prizes include a $500 Visa gift card, a 42 inch flat screen television, a deer feeder, a processed hindquarter of beef, a $100 gift card to Shoppin' Baskit, four ribeye dinners at The Turnrow Bar and Grill, and a KC for Four at Lowake Steak House.  Tickets are five dollars each or purchase five tickets for $20.  The drawing will be held on Saturday, July 6 at the annual Meet You at the Square barbecue cookoff.  Purchase tickets at Lange Drilling Company, the Turnrow Bar and Grill, at West Texas State Bank, or from any Rowena Lions Club member. 



Rowena Lions Club "Meet You at the Square"

The annual Rowena "Meet You at the Square" barbecue cookoff will be held Saturday (July 6) in downtown Rowena.  The categories for the cookoff include beans, chicken, pork ribs, and margaritas.  Teams may enter all contests for a fifty dollar entry fee.  Individuals may enter the margarita contest for ten dollars.  Trophies will be awarded for the top three teams in each food category and the top two margaritas.  A $250 grand prize will be awarded to the overall winning team.  The Rowena 4-H Club will be selling barbecue sandwiches, soft drinks, ice, and more in their concession stand throughout the day.  To enter, contact Cliff during the day at 442-2331 or evenings at 442-4461.  You may also contact any of these Rowena Lions Club members in the evening hours:  Pat at 442-3541, Mike at 442-2006, or Howard at 442-3700.



Carnegie Library Open Reading Day

Thursday is open reading day at the Carnegie Library.  Open reading continues through the summer months.  Young people are invited to read alone or along with others at the Carnegie Library on Thursday.  Each child in attendance that reads four total hours or more during the open reading days will be eligible to attend the Pool Party hosted by the Carnegie Library on August 15.



Ballinger ISD Summer Food Service Program

The Ballinger ISD will once again hold the Summer Food Service Program.  Beginning Monday July 29 and continuing through Friday, August 23, lunch will be served Monday through Friday from 11:45 AM through 12:30 PM.  The meal is dine-in only and is free to all children ages one to 18 years of age.  People over 18 years of age are also eligible for a free of charge lunch if determined to be mentally or physicall handicapped by a state or local educational agency, and participate in a public or private nonprofit school program for the handicapped during the school year.

The general public over 18 years of age may purchase a meal for $3.50.
