UIL Realignment
Feb 02, 2016   10:00 PM

The University Interscholastic League released realignments for Texas schools on Monday.  The alignments dictate Texas school districts' athletic and academic districts the 2016-2017 and the 2017-2018 school years.  One alignment is set for football, and basketball and all other sports, and academics follow a separate alignment.

In football alignments, Ballinger will compete in District 3-3A Division II along with Alpine, Reagan County, TLCA, and Sonora.

Three Agriplex area teams will remain district foes in District 6-2A Division II football.  Winters, Bronte, and Miles of the Agriplex will join Albany, Baird, and Cross Plains in the football district.

Paint Rock will compete in District 8-1A Division I in football along with Santa Anna, Veribest, and Water Valley.

In other alignments, Ballinger will compete in other athletic and academic events in District 4-3A.  Joining Ballinger in the district will be Reagan County, Grape Creek, TLCA, Sonora, and Wall.

Winters and Miles will compete in District 7-2A along with Christoval, Eldorado, Forsan, Irion County, and Ozona.

District 14-1A will include Bronte, Blackwell, Garden City, Robert Lee, Sterling City, Veribest, and Water Valley.

District 16-1A will include Paint Rock, Brookesmith, Cherokee, Eden, Menard, Richland Springs, and Rochelle.

The Winters Blizzards 2016 football schedule is set.  The Blizzards will open with two road games, at San Saba for Week 1 and at DeLeon for Week 2.  The Blizzards home opener will be in Week 3 as they host Bangs, then go to Hamlin the following week.  The Blizzards will finish the non-district portion of the schedule in Blizzard Stadium playing host to TLCA.  The Blizzards open district at home against Albany, then travel to Miles, then host Bronte and Cross Plains, and finish the district schedule at Baird.
