Ballinger residents are being reminded that the city’s splash pad is not always free to use. During regular pool operating hours, admission to both the city pool and splash pad is four dollars per person. However, when the pool is closed and no private party is scheduled, the splash pad remains open to the public at no charge, with access through the gate near the small pavilion. The splash pad was funded by the Ballinger Park Board, an independent board that oversees park improvement projects and operates separately from city administration. The attraction opened as part of ongoing efforts to expand family recreation opportunities at Ballinger City Park and closes nightly at 9 p.m. or at dark. The splash pad was added to provide a low-cost recreational option for families and younger children, particularly during the hot summer months. The clarification comes after repeated public questions on social media regarding whether the splash pad is free during pool operating hours.
