State Rep. Drew Darby is calling on a data center developer to abandon a proposed project near San Angelo.

Darby, whose district includes Runnels and Coleman counties, sent a letter Thursday asking Beacon Data Centers to withdraw its permit applications for the Dove Creek-area development.

Darby says the company has failed to adequately answer questions about the project and its potential effects on the community.

The proposed facility would generate electricity using natural gas engines.

Its air-quality permits remain pending, and the developer had not publicly responded to Darby’s latest letter.
