Ballinger’s high school cheer team turned in a spirited performance last week at the UIL Spirit State Championships in Fort Worth. Competing January 15–17 at the Fort Worth Convention Center, the University Interscholastic League’s marquee cheer event brings together top squads from across Texas to perform routines in crowd leading, fight song and band chant. Ballinger advanced to the finals in Class 2A Division I and finished sixth overall, joining area schools Sonora and Christoval who also qualified for final rounds. UIL officials say the competition highlights the hard work, athleticism and school pride of cheer programs statewide.
