Ballinger council approves ordinance to improve roadway safety

SHARE NOW

The Ballinger City Council has approved a new ordinance aimed at improving safety along roadways, sidewalks, and intersections.

The measure requires property owners to keep areas near streets and intersections clear of anything that blocks visibility. That includes trees, bushes, tall grass, and other obstructions that could make it difficult to see oncoming traffic.

The ordinance also requires removal of dead or damaged trees that could become hazardous, especially during high winds.

City officials say keeping sightlines clear will help prevent accidents and protect drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.

The ordinance takes effect on April 16.

Residents with property near roadways or intersections are urged to trim or remove potential hazards.
