The Ballinger Fire Department continues to investigate a weekend house fire that destroyed the home of Rudy and Sherry Galvan at 1103 Tenth Street in Ballinger.
According to a family member, the fire began at the back of the house near gas lines. Officials say the home did not have any gas space heaters, and the official cause of the fire has not been determined.
The Galvan family was not injured but lost everything in the fire and is currently staying with relatives. Because the home was completely destroyed, the family does not have a safe place to store donated furniture, clothing, or household items while cleanup and debris removal are still pending.
A donation account has been set up at First National Bank in Ballinger in the name of Rudy and Sherry Galvan to help with cleanup costs, including a roll-off dumpster. A GoFundMe page has also been established to assist with immediate needs
