Ballinger ISD has been named one of ten districts in Region 15 to receive a CPR in Schools training grant through the American Heart Association and the San Angelo Area Foundation.

According to the district, the grant provides CPR in Schools training kits that include manikins, AED simulators and classroom-ready materials to teach students and staff life-saving skills.

The American Heart Association says the program can train 10 to 20 students at a time in CPR, AED use and basic first aid—skills that can double or even triple survival chances during cardiac emergencies.

Schools may also use the resources to build emergency response plans and expand heart health education across campus.

District leaders say the training will help create a safer school environment while preparing students to respond in real-life emergencies
