Ballinger ISD is clarifying that no decision has been made to eliminate or remove long-standing Friday pep rallies at Ballinger High School.
Superintendent Caroline Toliver released a statement this week after concerns and criticism surfaced on social media regarding a parent survey about pep rally scheduling and instructional time.
District officials say the survey was sent only to parents of high school students to gather feedback on whether adjustments to pep rally timing should be considered. The district says the goal was simply to open discussion and collect community input — not to end the tradition.
Toliver says Ballinger ISD values school spirit, traditions and community involvement, while also balancing instructional priorities for students. She also encouraged respectful communication after what she described as harmful misinformation and personal attacks directed toward Ballinger High School Principal Leslie Griffis.
