The Ballinger Police Department will host a National Night Out block party Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 106 North Ninth Street.
The event will feature free food, displays, a bounce house, giveaways, and information tables. Police, fire, EMS and animal control crews will be on hand, along with the MyCycle Bicycle Program offering bike registration.
National Night Out began in 1984 through the National Association of Town Watch. About 2.5 million people took part in the first observance, and the program has since grown into a nationwide campaign promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood safety.
