The West Central Texas Council of Governments is offering a Residential Safe Room Rebate Program to help Ballinger and area residents build storm shelters. Funded by FEMA, the program reimburses up to 50% of the cost—or up to $3,000—toward installing a residential safe room to protect against severe weather like tornadoes.
To qualify, the home must be located in one of the approved counties, including Runnels County, and applicants must own the land where the safe room will be built. Funding is not retroactive, and pre-approval is required before any purchase or installation.
To apply or learn more, contact Jacob Marcotte at 325-672-8544, ext. 325, or visit www.wctcog.org/residential-safe-room-program.
Stay safe and be storm-ready, Ballinger.
