The department’s annual 9/11 Memorial 5K begins at 9 a.m. The event was started by Ballinger firefighter Reyna Uribe in 2020 and has since attracted participants from across West Texas.

Following the run, the community will gather at approximately 10 a.m. on the Runnels County Courthouse lawn for a memorial observance.

The ceremony marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks and honors the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel and other victims who lost their lives.

The community is encouraged to attend and help Ballinger keep its promise to never forget.
