Ballinger ISD has promoted longtime assistant coach Bryan Gayoso to head football coach and athletic director at Ballinger High School. The announcement came on Tuesday. Gayoso, who served as the Bearcats’ passing game coordinator last season, enters his 11th year with the program and has also led a successful boy’s track team during his tenure.
He replaces Ty Lang, who stepped down in May to join the Stephenville coaching staff. Gayoso takes over a Ballinger squad that finished 5-6 last season and made its first playoff appearance since 2021.
A San Angelo Lake View alum, Gayoso won a silver medal in the 800-meter run at the 1990 Class 4A state track meet and later competed at Angelo State and Texas Tech. He brings 21 years of coaching and teaching experience to his new role.
