The City of Ballinger has been selected as a 2025 Texas Recycles Day Grant recipient, an honor awarded through a partnership between Keep Texas Beautiful and Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages. The statewide program recognizes innovative local projects that strengthen recycling efforts across Texas.
City officials say the grant will fund electrical wiring needed to activate Ballinger’s second recycling press—equipment designed for processing aluminum and plastics. Until now, the center has only been able to operate its cardboard press.
“This small investment is going to make a big difference,” a city spokesperson said. “Bringing the second press online means more efficiency, less landfill waste, and a stronger recycling operation for our community.”
Now in its fourth year, the Texas Recycles Day Grant Program highlights communities taking action to reduce waste and improve long-term sustainability. Ballinger leaders say they’re proud to be part of that mission.
“This project shows what a community our size can accomplish,” the city added. “We’re committed to keeping valuable materials in circulation and making Ballinger greener for future generations.”
