James P. Cummings Junior was sworn in this morning as the new Justice of the Peace for Runnels County Precinct One, filling the seat left vacant by the retirement of longtime JP Lane Pinckney.
Cummings brings more than 20 years of public-service experience, most recently serving as a Senior Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in the San Angelo area. His work included handling complex criminal investigations and working closely with prosecutors and the court system.
He holds a master’s degree in public service from Angelo State University and recently moved to Ballinger to begin his role on the justice court.
Cummings says he plans to run for the position in the Republican primary later this year.
