The Ballinger Mighty Bearcat Band brought home top honors from the Big Country Marching Festival held Saturday, October 4th, at Hugh Sandifer Stadium in Abilene.
The Bearcat Band was named First Place among 2A schools, earning a Division One rating, along with awards for Best Overall Woodwinds and Best Overall Brass.
Band directors say the performance marks a strong start to the competition season. The Mighty Bearcat Band will next perform at the Concho Classic Marching Festival this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in San Angelo.
Other Agri-Plex bands will also compete, including Eden at 11:15 a.m., Winters at 11:45 a.m., and Miles at 1:45 p.m.
The UIL Regional Marching Contest is set for October 18th in San Angelo, with Area competition to follow October 25th in Amarillo.
