MILES ADOPTS NEW RULES FOR BURN BANS

The City of Miles is reminding residents of new rules governing outdoor burning within the city limits.

The City Council adopted an ordinance last week allowing Miles to regulate and enforce burn bans in accordance with decisions made by Runnels County commissioners.

Before conducting any controlled burn, residents must call Runnels County Dispatch at 325-365-5961 to check the current burn-ban status and report the burn.

When a burn ban is in effect, no open burning is allowed without a permit from County Commissioner Juan Ornelas.

City officials say controlled burns must be reported to dispatch even when no burn ban is in effect.
