Miles ISD is taking the next big step toward construction of its new school cafetorium.
Utility and site preparations are already underway. AEP crews are installing new electrical lines from the junior high to the ag shop to power the southern part of the campus. The district is also relocating the grease trap and turning the freezer about 90 degrees to make room for the new building.
Demolition of the old cafeteria is next, with Collier currently providing cost estimates. Sea containers have already been placed between the ag shop and auditorium to store furniture and equipment during the project.
On the big playground, backstops and the swing set will be moved by October 20th. Fencing will go up within the next week or two, blocking part of the elementary parking lot and rerouting student and staff access around the site.
District officials say they appreciate everyone’s patience as the project moves forward—calling the new cafetorium an exciting addition that will serve students and the community for years to come.
