The City of Miles is changing its water and sewer rates for all utility customers. The new rates will apply to September water usage and appear on bills due in October. For residential customers with a 5/8- or 3/4-inch meter, the monthly water base fee will increase from $48 to $50, and water usage will cost $4.75 per 1,000 gallons for usage between 1,000 and 15,000 gallons. The city is also eliminating water included in the base fee. Residential sewer rates will increase from $13 to $23 per tap. The city says the increases will help cover rising supply, repair and labor costs and support operation and maintenance of its water and wastewater systems. Questions may be directed to Miles City Hall at 325-468-3151.
