More than 60 dogs and puppies, along with several other animals, are receiving care following a neglect investigation in Ballinger.
The Runnels County Sheriff’s Office served a search and seizure warrant early Monday morning at a residential property, with assistance from Humane World for Animals and regional rescue groups.
Sheriff Carl Squyres says the case stretched local resources, calling it “far more than a small rural county could handle alone,” and credited outside agencies for helping remove the animals and ensure they received proper care.
Responders reported overcrowded, unsanitary conditions, with animals suffering from malnutrition, injuries, and exposure. All animals have been relocated for veterinary treatment.
The investigation remains ongoing.
