SHARE NOW

Ballinger police are investigating a threatening phone call made to the local Walmart Thursday night.

Police say just after nine o’clock, a male suspect called the store claiming he was on the way with a gun and a pipe bomb and threatened to shoot everyone inside. The caller also claimed bombs were already in the building and demanded one-thousand dollars in gift cards, saying he needed the money for a new baby.

Officers secured the store and parking lot, safely evacuated customers, and conducted a sweep of the building. No explosives were found and no injuries were reported.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ballinger Police Department at 325-365-3591.
