Rainbow Trout Stocked in Concho River for Holiday Fishing

SHARE NOW

Local anglers in the Agri Plex have a new reason to grab a fishing pole as 2025 comes to a close.  The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has stocked rainbow trout in the Concho River just ahead of the end of the year.

The fish were released along the North Concho River corridor between Oakes and Irving streets in downtown San Angelo. Officials say this marks the final trout stocking at that location for 2025.

Texas Parks and Wildlife plans to stock the river again on January 23rd and February 20th of next year. Rainbow trout are typically stocked from late fall through early spring and are known to bite on common baits like corn, worms, and cheese.

So grab your fishing pole, head to the Concho River, and score some delicious rainbow trout for your New Year’s dinner.
