The Runnels County 4-H and FFA Livestock Show and Sale wrapped up a record-setting four-day run last week at the Ballinger Community Center, with every Grand Champion breaking an existing sale record.
Grand Champion honors included Braden Hoppe’s steer, bringing $15,000; Royce Cook’s lamb at $4,750; Jolee Battle’s swine at $10,000; Rylee Vahlenkamp’s goat at $5,500; and Zachary Shrader’s fryer, selling for $4,000.
Reserve Grand Champion projects also drew strong community support. Corley Belew’s reserve steer sold for $9,750. Curry Smithwick’s reserve lamb brought $5,000, Megan Lange’s reserve swine also sold for $5,000, Stihl Skelton’s reserve goat brought $4,000, and Julianna Fernandez’s reserve fryer sold for $3,000.
Show officials say buyer participation from businesses, organizations, families and individuals once again underscores the community’s commitment to supporting youth involved in agriculture, leadership, and responsibility through 4-H and FFA programs.
