Runnels County officials are preparing to move forward on plans to renovate the county jail after voters approved a general obligation bond in May 2025 to fund improvements and upgrades to the aging facility.
On Monday, January 19, the Commissioners Court will hold a 10 a.m. workshop in the Grand Jury Room at the courthouse in Ballinger to hear an update from Kenny Burns Architects on the jail project and discuss key components of the renovation.
The bond, part of a nearly $3.9 million financing plan, will be used for mechanical, security, accessibility and structural upgrades at the current jail facility after voters gave their authorization last spring.
Citizens are invited to attend the workshop as county leaders continue planning steps to ensure the jail meets modern standards for safety and operations.
