The biggest stage in Texas high school track and field is almost here.
The UIL State Track and Field Meet will take place May 14th through the 16th at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus in Austin. Athletes from across the state — including competitors from Ballinger, Winters and Miles — are preparing to compete after advancing through district, area and regional meets.
Ballinger athletes have posted strong postseason performances this spring, including regional qualifying efforts in the 100-meter hurdles, where senior Ashtyn Wilson won the regional meet with a time of 14.9 to earn her berth and the boys 4×400 relay team made up of Julio Salazar, Brody Wilde, Manny Gonzalez, Hunter Peacock, set a new BHS school record of 3:22 & are State bound as well, while Winters and Miles athletes also continued deep playoff runs during the UIL track season.
The annual state meet draws thousands of athletes, coaches, parents and fans and represents the highest level of UIL competition in Texas high school track and field. Field events begin in the morning, with running finals scheduled each evening in Austin.
