Floodwaters that recently poured into O.H. Ivie Reservoir have created water quality issues for Ballinger residents. City officials report manganese levels rose sharply following the surge, impacting the look and smell of tap water in some areas.
Lake Ivie levels have now steadied, and in response, the city is pulling more water from Lake Ballinger to help balance and reduce manganese levels. The city’s water plant is currently limited to treating water four times per day, but teams are actively monitoring and adjusting treatment to improve quality and ensure safety.
While improvements are being seen, some residents may still notice discoloration or odor. Officials assure citizens that all water remains safe and treatment efforts are ongoing. The city thanks the public for its continued patience during the recovery process.
