Winters I-S-D says local law enforcement is investigating a potential threat directed toward the school district.
District administrators were notified Thursday evening, Aug. 13, and immediately contacted law enforcement. In a community update, the district said there was no evidence at that time of a credible threat.
On Friday, the district said law enforcement had received additional information, conducted an investigation and continued working with school officials.
Winters I-S-D said there was no indication of an immediate danger to students or staff. However, additional security measures were implemented Friday for classes and extracurricular activities as a precaution.
The district is reminding families to report concerning information, rumors or suspicious social media activity to school officials or law enforcement, and to rely on official district communications for updates.
