Billie Ruth Bishop
Billie Ruth Bishop, 98, of Winters passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026.
She was born March 20, 1928 in Runnels County to Rube and Lizzie Whitley. She graduated from Talpa High School. She married Dick Bishop in 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1974. She was a homemaker for several years before becoming the Activities Director at the nursing facility for over 30 years, only retiring during the COVID pandemic.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dick Bishop; brothers: Junior Whitley and Terry Whitley; and son-in-law Robert Johnson.
She is survived by three children: Lanham Bishop and wife Barbie, Lesli Sheppard and husband Maxey, and Lisa Johnson; six grandchildren (and their spouses): Ricky, Paige, Matt, Heather, Todd, and Rachael; sister Lois Bredemeyer; as well as nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Winters Funeral Home.
