1929-2026
Dixie Faye Calcote, of Winters, Texas, went to her heavenly home on Friday, April 3, 2026. She was born on November 23, 1929, in Augusta, Georgia, to George and Willie Parker, both of whom preceded her in death. She grew up in Cullman, Alabama, and later made her way to Texas, where she met the love of her life, Roy Calcote. They were married on April 7, 1951, at Drasco Baptist Church.
Dixie wore many hats throughout her life. In addition to being a devoted homemaker, she worked at Dry's Manufacturing, Conoco Convenience Store, and served as a secretary and head bookkeeper for Roy Calcote & Sons, and later for her son Billy at Calcote Dirt Contracting. She loved holding babies, working in her yard, going for walks, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She also made sure to enjoy at least two Dr Peppers a day. Dixie was a Baptist who loved the Lord deeply, and she loved her large family fiercely.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Karen Calcote; her husband, Roy Calcote; her brothers, Herman Parker, Horace Parker, J.L. Parker, and Jack Parker; and her sisters, Claire Hyatt and Mildred Hooten.
Dixie is survived by her sons: Larry Calcote (Bobbie), Richard Calcote, Billy Calcote (Malinda), and Michael Calcote (Renee'), all of Winters, and Daniel Calcote (Sherry) of Rowena. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jim Calcote (Wendi), Aaron Calcote (Zantha), Wes Calcote (Melanie), Christy Calcote Oats, Kayla Cisneros (Gilbert), Justin Calcote (Kari), Allison Calcote, Melissa Chapman (Garrett), Travis Calcote, and Sandy Kvittem (Lee); 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson expected in June. She is also survived by her brothers, S.J. Parker and Gary Parker.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Dixie by spending time with your loved ones; something she treasured most.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
