Gus Carl Klaus, Jr.
1941-2026

Carl Klaus, Jr., 84, of Rowena, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

He was born on December 21, 1941, to Gus C. and Linda Lee (Junek) Klaus, Sr., in Runnels County, Texas. Gus married the love of his life Cecilia Roslie Kellermeier on February 27, 1965, at St. Philip Catholic Church in Eola, Texas. A hardworking, dedicated provider, Gus spent his life taking care of his family, through physical labor, and as the spiritual leader of his six children. He worked as a welder for Hash and Terry where he got his start welding, was a water wells driller, farmer, and later went on to work in the oil field during the boom welding on the oil rigs. Gus also served honorably in the Army National Guard. As a lover of the outdoors he could be found fishing and hunting, but also later in life, he loved sitting on the front porch just watching the deer. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena, Texas and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Gus is preceded in death by his parents Gus and Linda Klaus, Sr., and his brother Alton Klaus.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Cecilia Klaus, his daughters, Dianna M Dorland, Barbara L Fout, Joyce K Meine husband Ronnie, Sharon M Janoe husband Rick, Nancy G Canales, and his son Mike C Klaus. Gus will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Cristen-Ann Creel Crabb, Guenhwyvar Dorland, Kimberly Oosthuizen and husband Nico, Kalie Adams, Zach Adams, Carl Pace, Amy Pace, Marcus Cantrell, Benny Canales, and Samantha Canales. His sister Arlene Haechten, and Eline Hite and husband Paul, as well as 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Honorary Pallbearer Lynn Halfmann. Alton Klaus Jr, Zach Adams, Benny Canales, Marcus Cantrell, Calvin Junek.

A rosary for Gus will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena, Texas. His Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately after at 10:30 am with Father Ariel Lagunilla celebrating. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, followed by a meal back at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowen in Gus’s name.
