1976-2026
Hugo Macias Peña, age 49, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Hugo was born on December 21, 1976, in Mexico to Manuel Peña, Sr. and Alicia Macias Peña. He was a devoted family man whose kindness and generosity touched everyone he met. Hugo would truly give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, which was a testament to his selfless heart.
On October 17, 2009, Hugo married the love of his life, Erica Duarte Peña, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger, Texas. Together they shared many wonderful years and were blessed with three beautiful daughters. A man of deep faith, Hugo was a proud Guadalupano and remained very active in the church, where he found strength and purpose in his community.
Hugo loved sports of all kinds, working on projects, and spending time outdoors. He treasured his time spent with family, especially his beloved grandchildren, Armani, Thomas, and Ahlani, who brought him endless joy and happiness. Hugo was a constant source of encouragement and always made time to check in on his family, reminding them how deeply they were loved. He worked long, demanding hours in the oilfield as a wire liner, a role that required dedication, skill, and sacrifice, all of which he willingly gave to support his family.
Hugo was preceded in death by his mother, Alicia Peña, and his grandfather, Santos Peña, Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Erica Peña; his daughters, Melanie Peña, Claudia Peña, and Danielle Peña; his father, Manuel Peña, Sr.; and his cherished grandchildren, Armani Denise, Thomas Hayes, and Ahlani Jhene.
He is also survived by his brothers, Carlos Peña, Robert Peña, and Manuel Peña (Rusilia); his sister, Ada Narro (William); his mother-in-law, Delphine Gonzalez; and his sisters-in-law, Veronica Perez (Julian), Stephanie Gonzalez, Frances Gonzalez, Alda Duarte, and Cristal Gonzalez.
Hugo leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, including Kamryn Medrano, Kasey Rae (Will), Alexus Briann, Mikaela Gonzalez, Camilla Gonzalez (Matt Galindo), Julia Nunez (Jacoby), Briann Balderas (Jay), Analicia Narro, Julian Perez, Jr., Karlie Perez, Serenity Peña, Genevieve Peña, Boston Pena, Kaiden Medrano, Marcus Duarte, Manny Gonzalez, Julian Gonzalez, and Eli Holder.
A Rosary will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., also at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, with interment to follow at the Latin American Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Himabindu Valluru at Hendrick Medical Center for the loving care and love she showed to Hugo and his family.
Though he is no longer with us, Hugo’s love, laughter, and legacy will continue to live on through his family and all the lives he touched.
