Winton Milliff
1928-2025

He was born on September 29, 1928, to Michael Franklin and Dora Elizabeth (Crofford) Milliff in Crockett, Texas. After graduating from Refugio High School in 1948, Winton joined the Army and was honorably discharged in October of 1956. During his military service in the reserves, he also married the love of his life, Virginia Henniger, on August 19, 1954, at the First Presbyterian Church in Ballinger, Texas. They have shared over 70 incredible years of love and dedication. He was a man of strong faith and served selflessly as a Deacon and Elder at his home church.

Winton was a hardworking, dedicated man. From his work for Union Texas Petroleum for 32 years, to multiple years at Lone Star Gas, and eventually as office manager for Coke County Underground Water Conservation District for 25 years, he never sat idle. Even if he was just working in his yard or tinkering for hours without end in his shop. He also served faithfully as Past Master for the Masonic Lodge in Ballinger, as well as for both the Ballinger and Robert Lee Volunteer Fire Departments. Winton was also a member of the Lion’s Club and sat on the board for the West Coke County Hospital District.

He is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Dora Milliff, as well as his two brothers Mike and Franklin, and his sister Doylan.

Winton is survived by his wife of 70 years, Virginia, his great nephew Colt Williams and wife Lindsey, with their daughters Alli and Rylee. God-son, Sean Tatum and wife Tammy, and family Ciarra Roberts and husband Cale with their children Dane, Valerie, and Scarlett, as well as Kayla Nelson, and Jaxon Grosch. God-daughter, Regina Lederhos and husband Adam, with their family Abby and Brody. Winton will also be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins..

A visitation for Winton will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas. His funeral service will follow on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Ballinger, Texas, with Brenda Church officiating. Interment will follow after the church service at Robert Lee Cemetery.
