About The Original Country Gold with Rowdy Yates
Rowdy Yates is a second-generation broadcaster, born in Texas and raised in some of the greatest radio stations ever. Son of legendary news journalist and frequent Paul Harvey substitute, Joe Holstead, Rowdy’s radio travels have taken him to garden spots such as Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Houston, Tulsa, and Dallas, with stops in “B-towns” including Bryan, Bridgeport, and Brady.
He began his career at the age of 15, running the church tapes at Denton’s KDNT, near his hometown of Ft Worth. [His Mom had to drive him to work every Sunday morning.] Yates’ resume reads like a who’s-who of impressive call letters where he has served primarily as air personality, but over the years has applied his talents to web design, social networking, promotions, marketing, programming and operations.
Rowdy has been the long-running host of The Original Country Gold – a weekend institution that is heard on over 130 radio stations every single weekend. He’s been the host for almost 20 years.
