BIG COUNTRY MARCHING FESTIVAL

SHARE NOW

While Texas high school football teams hit the field in August heat, another group has been just as busy — the marching bands, drill, flag, and dance teams. Since late July, they’ve been preparing for their own spotlight under the stadium lights.

Their hard work will be showcased at the Big Country Marching Festival, set for Saturday, Oct. 4, at Hugh Sandifer Stadium at Wylie High School. The Mighty Ballinger Bearcat band is scheduled to take the field at 3:05pm Saturday, while the Winters Blizzard band will march at 11:05am and the Eden Bulldog band performs at 10:05am.  Admission is $5.

The marching contest will give local bands an opportunity to be judged on their performance by a group of judges, with several awards up for grabs.  And, organizers say it’s a chance for fans to support the students who bring the sights and sounds of Friday nights to life.
