Runnels County officials are looking for applicants to fill the unexpired term of Justice of the Peace, Precinct One. The position became vacant recently, and applications will be accepted at the County Judge’s office until September 19. The selected individual will serve through the remainder of the current term, which runs until the end of 2026. Duties of the justice of the peace include handling Class C misdemeanor cases, performing inquests, and officiating weddings. Commissioners will review applications later this month, with an appointment expected in the coming weeks.
