The Ballinger Lady Cats opened district basketball play with a 60-17 victory Tuesday night, defeating the Bangs Lady Dragons in the district opener at Joe Forrester Gym.
Ballinger relied on strong defense and balanced scoring to take control early and hold off Bangs the rest of the way. The Lady Cats held the Lady Dragons scoreless in the second quarter.
The win gives the Lady Cats a 1-and-0 start in district competition as they continue play Friday night as they host Graham.
