KRUN HIT HARD BY SUNDAY STORMS

Severe storms that swept through Central West Texas Sunday evening caused extensive damage to the KRUN studios and broadcast facilities, but thanks to a tremendous community effort, the station was back on the air in less than 24 hours.

The storm raced through the area around 5:30 Sunday afternoon, damaging the roof of the KRUN building and allowing heavy rainwater to pour into interior sections of the facility. The storm also severely damaged electrical equipment and service boxes feeding power into the station.

Despite the setbacks, local electricians, contractors, technicians, volunteers and community members quickly stepped in to help restore operations.

While there is still significant roof and water damage that must be repaired before the studios can return to full operation,  we are deeply appreciative of the overwhelming support shown by the community during the recovery effort.

This response serves as a reminder of how communities across the AgriPlex always come together during difficult situations to keep vital local information and communication services operating.
