EARLY TRIPLE-DIGIT HEAT POSSIBLE IN THE AGRIPLEX

SHARE NOW

Unseasonably early heat could be on the way for the AgriPlex, with forecasters calling for temperatures near the 100-degree mark this weekend around Ballinger and San Angelo.

Historically, the first 100-degree day in this region arrives closer to late May, with an average date of May 26. But records show triple-digit heat has struck much earlier — as soon as April 6th, set back in 1972. On the other end of the spectrum, some years have seen the first 100-degree reading delayed until as late as August 15th.

The region typically experiences around 30 days each year at or above 100 degrees, highlighting how common — yet impactful — extreme heat can be across West Central Texas.

With near-triple-digit temperatures in the forecast this weekend, residents are urged to stay hydrated and take precautions if spending extended time outdoors.
