The Winters Police Department reports charges have been filed following a series of criminal incidents investigated over the past three months. Police say the cases involved theft, criminal mischief, reckless damage to property, disorderly conduct, obstruction of roadways, and burglary.
Officers received multiple complaints, including fire extinguishers being stolen and discharged, pallets and large rocks thrown into roadways, damage to city and privately owned decorative property along sidewalks, and the burglary of the local museum, where baseball cards were stolen.
In response, police implemented a targeted action plan with increased patrols and foot patrols in problem areas. During the early morning hours of December 24, a parked patrol unit was damaged by thrown objects and taken out of service.
Officers detained juvenile suspects, who were later released to guardians. Charges have been filed. Police ask residents to report suspicious activity to dispatch.
