Water service has been restored in the City of Winters, but a boil water notice remains in effect for all city customers. According to city officials, the notice was issued after a temporary loss of water pressure, as required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Residents are advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and washing hands. Water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil for at least two minutes, then allowed to cool before use. Bottled water may be used as an alternative. Children, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems are especially vulnerable. City officials say customers will be notified once the water is safe to use without boiling.
