David Carrell Harrell
1950-2025

David Carrell Harrell, 75, of Gouldbusk, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas.

He was born on February 1, 1950, to James Carrell and Bernice Louise (Gibson) Harrell in Ballinger, Texas. David attended school in Norton, graduating from Norton High School in 1968. After high school, he attended Angelo State University where he studied agronomy. David was a farmer and truck driver operating out of Norton, Texas. He had a deep love for farming, especially cotton. He also had a special place in his heart for cats, caring for many feline friends over the years, planting a garden, and fishing. There were not many times when he did not have something planted and many Sunday afternoons were spent catching frogs for bait and fishing for the only acceptable fish, catfish.

David is preceded in death by his father, James Carrell Harrell, and his sister Mary Louise Vestal.

He is survived by his children: daughter, Amanda Brake and husband Jason of San Angelo; son, Herbert Harrell and wife Melissa of Ballinger, Texas; and daughter, Phoebe Branham and husband Garry of Miles. David is also survived by his mother, Bernice “Louise” Harrell, and his significant other, Debra Kelley who has been diligent in her love and care for him over the last several years. Other survivors include his brothers, James M. and Gary L. Harrell, along with his sisters, Jeanie Crump and Lorri Crotwell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He has nine grandchildren: Aeryn and Jennsyn Brake; Anton, August, Benedict, John, and Mark Harrell; and Payton and Paysley Branham. In addition, he is survived by his former spouse, Marlene Lange Harrell.

A rosary will be held for David on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 9:30 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen, Texas. His Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately after at 10:00 am, with Father Ariel Lagunilla celebrating. Burial will follow the Mass at a private family cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Outreach Services of San Angelo in David’s name.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of San Angelo and the staff of Shannon Medical Center including Dr. Justin Jones, Brady West Rehab and Nursing, and Shannon Rehabilitation Hospital (Encompass) for their compassionate care over the last few months.
