A previously scheduled trial date has now been pushed back in the case of a Runnels County man accused in a deadly Montana shooting.
Twenty-three-year-old Ty Allen Turney was originally set to go to trial May 18th, but that date is now expected to be delayed until later this year following a recent court hearing in Stillwater County Montana.
Turney appeared briefly in district court, where attorneys and the judge discussed a possible five-day trial in the fall and a request to move proceedings to another county to ensure a fair and impartial jury.
Turney remains held on a two-million-dollar bond in Yellowstone County. He faces four felony charges, including two counts of deliberate homicide and two counts of attempted deliberate homicide connected to a December 8th shooting that left two people dead and two others seriously injured.
Defense attorneys say the request for a change of venue is not opposed by prosecutors due to extensive publicity surrounding the case. Turney has also waived his right to a speedy trial.
Prosecutors have previously stated they will not seek the death penalty.
