Ballinger ISD officials say rising seasonal illnesses among students and staff are creating strain across the district.
In a letter to parents Tuesday, Superintendent Caroline Toliver said the increase in absences, combined with limited substitute availability and ongoing spring activities, is impacting daily operations.
The district remains open for now and continues to monitor attendance and staffing levels. However, officials say if absences significantly increase and there are not enough staff members to safely cover classes, a short-term closure of one or two days could be considered.
Parents are encouraged to have backup plans in place.
